Holway Community Centre hosts a successful event, showcasing the power of collaboration

On the 26th October 2023, the Holway Community Centre was abuzz with laughter and camaraderie as Ysgol Treffynnon, in partnership with Friends of Holway, Community Focused Schools, and the Community Development Team, organised a heart warming community event. The event not only brought the community closer but also allowed students to develop new skills and engage with members of the local community.

The event was graced by four dedicated pupils from Ysgol Treffynnon - Evie, Maja, Ffion, and Alice. These young individuals played an integral role in the success of the event by assisting with various activities, showcasing their commitment to the community.

The day was filled with a range of activities and delicious food offerings, which were made possible by a team of enthusiastic volunteers. Attendees were treated to a hearty meal that included soup and bread, rice pudding with jam, and a delightful fruit cocktail. There was also an array of beverages, with tea, coffee, and juice served to keep everyone refreshed.

One of the event's highlights was a raffle, where numerous prizes were up for grabs. Generous donations from both the school community and Tesco made this raffle a great success. Additionally, the event featured an entertaining game of Bingo, expertly managed by the Ysgol Treffynnon students who called out the numbers. This not only added an element of fun but also gave the pupils an opportunity to learn new skills and interact with the attendees.

This event underscored the immense importance of community engagement and collaboration between educational institutions, community organisations, and local businesses. By working together, Ysgol Treffynnon, Friends of Holway, Community Focused Schools, and the Community Development Team were able to create a sense of togetherness and belonging within the Holway community.

Mary Jones, Deputy Headteacher from Ysgol Treffynnon shared her gratitude, stating, "We are overwhelmed by the tremendous support and cooperation we received from the community. It's heartening to see how we can come together and create a positive impact. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all the volunteers, and everyone who made this event a resounding success."

This event served as a testament to the power of community-driven initiatives and how they can not only strengthen bonds within the community but also foster learning and personal development in the younger generation.

A huge thankyou to all involved in organising and delivering this successful multi-generational community event.
